Marcia Samuels, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, who has been providing mental health assessment and treatment since 1997. She has been in private practice with Community Psychological Resources since 2000. Her primary areas of expertise include psychological assessment of children, adolescents, and adults to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. A particular area of interest and expertise is evaluation of parenting capacity and parental attachment. Dr. Samuels primarily uses a cognitive-behavioral approach in her therapy with individuals age 5 and older, and her clinical areas of specialty include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, coping with chronic illness and pain, trauma, foster care placement and coping with life transitions. Dr. Samuels has served as an Independent Evaluator for the Norfolk Mental Health Court.
Mark Long, Ed.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 30 years of experience and has worked at Community Psychological Resources since 1996. His areas of interest include disability, geriatric, military and psychological testing. He specializes in working with issues related to social security evaluations, fitness for duty and security evaluations, intellectual disabilities, tobacco cessation, suicide prevention, psychological health and resiliency, and transition. Dr. Long is a retired Navy Reserve Clinical Psychologist.
Roberta Mohler, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who takes a humanistic approach to the therapy process. She works with adults, adolescents, couples and families. She has successfully worked with hundreds of clients to increase their own understanding of themselves and their life choices, whether it is a long-standing issue or a singular life crisis. She has a personal understanding in working with military families. Her areas of expertise include relationship/marital issues, personal empowerment, self esteem, trauma, post traumatic stress, divorce, parenting, depression/anxiety, loss and grief and sexual orientation.
Cara Mathews, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been providing services to children and families since 1991 after earning her Master’s of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has 30+ years in the social work field and has been providing therapy services with CPR since 2006.
Cara values a warm and empathic therapy experience. She focuses on collaboration and a genuine connection to allow for unconditional positive regard for each person with whom she works. Cara utilizes a strength-based perspective with cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approaches. As a seasoned clinician, she enjoys working on an individual basis with adults of all ages to address challenges such as: anxiety, depression, life transitions and adjustment, family conflict and parenting.

Lisa Finkel Leon, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Brandeis University in 1993. She has a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in 2001. Dr. Leon has worked with children, adolescents, and families—particularly children who are emotionally disturbed—victims of abuse and neglect, and those within the foster care system. She has worked with adolescent sex offenders and with families utilizing a structural family therapy approach to treatment. Her current areas of specialty include psychological assessment with children (ages 6-18) and adults, and court-ordered parenting capacity evaluations for adults involved with the Department of Social Services.
Sheila McElmurry, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Master’s Degree from Norfolk State University. She has been a licensed clinician since 2005 and has worked with children, adolescents and their families for the past 20+ years in various settings. Sheila has many years experience in early intervention programs in Washington D.C. and Norfolk. She was an advocate and coordinator of services at St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and has additional experience in residential treatment for psychiatric issues and juvenile detention facilities. Sheila provided therapeutic services for pediatric oncology patients for ten years, which led to furthering her education through a certification program in therapeutic modalities for grief and loss. Her clinical interventions are driven by the acknowledgment of personal strengths and strong belief in resiliency. During therapy sessions, Sheila works towards increasing coping skills, self-awareness and the pursuit of well-being through ongoing dialogue and experiential activities. Her expertise focuses on chronic illness, grief and loss issues, depression, PTSD, and cognitive deficits.
Rudy Escobar, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, with experience providing counseling services in private practice, schools, and community agencies. His work with children, adolescents, adults, and families is based upon principles including, but not limited to, solution focused therapy, family systems, and cognitive behavior therapy. He has particular interest in empowering individuals who are experiencing adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, ADHD, family problems, relationships problems, and parenting issues. Rudy also provides clinical supervision to counseling residents pursuing their licensure.
Tesha Thornton, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been licensed in the state of Virginia since 2015. She works primarily with clients ages 18 and up. Ms. Thornton has a passion for helping individuals experiencing life transitions such as: graduation from school, divorce/separation, relocation, separation from the military, retirement, empty nesting and sexual orientation issues. Her clinical interventions include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Ms. Thornton proudly served in the Virginia Air National Guard for 20 years as an Equal Opportunity Counselor where she provided training and support regarding human relations issues. This position strongly contributes to her ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds as she is able to provide a relatable therapeutic experience for anyone she comes in contact with.

Adelia Gregoire, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and obtained her Doctorate of Psychology degree from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology, which is comprised of The College of William and Mary, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University. She completed her graduate school internship at the Cumberland Consortium in Nashville, Tennessee and her post-doctorate residency at the Child Abuse Center of Hampton Roads. Dr. Gregoire has been practicing clinical psychology for over twenty years and has been in private practice for over twelve years. She also works at Sentara College of Health Sciences, where she has the opportunity to guest lecture and conduct seminars about mental health issues. She works with teenagers and adults in individual, family and couples therapy to address a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship discord, history of abuse, personality disorders, to name a few. Her graduate school studies included a concentration in family systems therapy which she integrates with elements from both humanistic and cognitive behavioral psychology. Dr. Gregoire takes a collaborative approach to therapy, with the goal of accessing an individual’s innate wisdom and drive towards mental well-being through appropriate prompting, guidance and support. Respect and positive regard for her clients are key factors in forging a therapeutic bond with them.
Louis Miller, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Regent University. He has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Virginia since 2010. Dr. Miller has a general practice with special interest in the evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, couples and families. He has specialized experience conducting therapy and comprehensive psychological evaluations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Miller specializes in working with those with anger problems, depression, anxiety, grief, issues related to the military, drug and alcohol issues and healing from traumatic experiences.
Lynne Dell’Acqua, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been working in the field of mental health and emotional well-being for more than 30 years. During this time, she has worked with individuals, groups, and families in group homes, residential treatment centers, and outpatient therapy; and she has supervised professionals towards licensure. Lynne has worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and senior citizens addressing issues of attachment, parenting, life transitions, anger, depression, communication, relationship issues, anxiety, and trauma. She is EMDR trained and certified and works from a strength-based, person-centered, psychodynamic, emotionally focused perspective. She is grateful to have been able to accompany and work with so many individuals on their journey during difficult times. It is her belief every person has the capacity to heal and change given the time and necessary understanding.

Karen Woodhouse, MSW, ACSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in 1979. In 1980, she was accepted into the Academy of Certified Social Workers and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2005. She has extensive experience in working with oncology patients and their families, end stage renal disease, dialysis, congestive heart failure, transplant, and hospice. She has spent her career helping clients and families adjust to, and cope with, living with chronic illness. She also specializes in the treatment of trauma, grief, PTSD, depression, anxiety, caregiver and end of life issues. Certified and trained in EMDR therapy.
Jessica Richards, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, who has been working with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of mental health settings for 10 years. She received her B.A. in Psychology in 2007 from the University of Windsor (Canada), and her M.S. in Professional Counseling in 2011 from Southeastern University in Florida. In addition to working with clients in an individual setting, Jessica has experience working in residential group homes for adolescents, juvenile detention centers, and in-home settings with at-risk children and adolescents. She has worked with individuals and families to address a variety of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief and loss, and trauma. Jessica addresses these issues utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities, including CBT (Cognitive Behavior therapy), play, art, and mindfulness. She is committed to ensuring that her approach is tailored to the needs of individuals and families and is a firm believer in providing individuals and families with practical tools and strategies aimed at interpersonal growth and development.
Jennifer Aguado, LPC, CSAC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, who obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Virginia Wesleyan College, and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Old Dominion University. Jennifer has more than 20 years of experience working with adults with various substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions. She has worked in a variety of settings, to include inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, and outpatient treatment. After many years in the field, Jennifer developed a special interest in working with substance abuse and addiction and became a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in 2007. Her areas of interest include substance abuse and addiction, depression and other mood disorders, grief and loss, and anxiety. Her chosen treatment approaches include cognitive behavioral, client-centered, and motivational interviewing.
Krista Everett, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience working with children, adolescents and young adults. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master’s of Social Work and a Bachelor's of Art in Psychology. She began her career working as an early childhood mental health therapist, also providing mental health consultation to teachers in preschool classrooms and classroom lessons for preschool children on various social skills. Afterwards, Krista decided to expand her horizons and worked as a school-based mental health therapist for 4 years with students ages 4-17, using play therapy and art therapy techniques as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy with the majority of her clients. She worked with families, teachers, and agencies to coordinate services and support a holistic approach towards emotional well-being. Krista has worked with clients who struggled with issues such as traumatic experiences, grief and loss, self-harm, suicidal ideation, adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, family conflict, academic difficulties, poverty, and other stressors. Krista is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for both adults and children.
Krista is committed to be a provider that her clients can trust and to create a safe space in which her clients feel heard and supported. Krista's passion is working with children/adolescents in individual counseling on a variety of mental health issues
Robin Coley Wooling, LPC, ATR-Clinical Coordinator is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist who began work with Family Preservation Services (FPS) in 2013. Prior to FPS she served as the therapist in a short-term crisis hospital where she worked with adults experiencing severe depression, psychosis, and substance abuse. In this capacity Robin assisted individuals with understanding their illnesses and educating them on ways to mitigate their symptoms. From 2005 to 2011 Robin worked as an Intensive In-Home counselor working with children, adolescents, and families experiencing mental, emotional, and relationship problems. Robin worked extensively with adolescents who caused sexual harm as well as sexual abuse victims. In this capacity she was instrumental in improving and preserving family unity. In addition to working directly with individuals and families, Robin had the opportunity to develop and facilitate a Family Based Trauma Program and a Parenting Skills Class.
Dr. Shannon Cray Dr. Cray obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Virginia and her Master’s degree in Community and Clinical Psychology from Norfolk State University. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology through The Virginia Consortium Program of Clinical Psychology in 2014 with emphases in neuropsychology and child psychology. Dr. Cray completed a two-year clinical neuropsychology fellowship with Neurology Specialists. She is currently seeking board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. In addition to neuropsychological testing, Dr. Cray practices cognitive behavioral and interpersonal outpatient psychotherapy with adolescents and adults. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children.
Jill Hernandez Layne, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20+ years of experience in counseling and medical social work. Jill has extensive clinical experience working with individuals and families coping with complex challenges in a wide variety of settings. Jill has specific expertise in relationship and parenting issues, life transitions, trauma, grief, eating disorders and chronic illness. In addition, Jill provides clinical supervision to MSWs seeking LCSW licensure. Jill believes in using a strengths-based approach for her work with patients and is grateful for the opportunity and privilege to help individuals cope with the challenges of life.
Timothy C. Taylor LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has provided mental health counseling to families in Tidewater for over 30 years. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia. He holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University, where his studies included a concentration in family systems theory which he integrates with elements of humanistic, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies. Areas of expertise include depression/anxiety, loss and grief, self-esteem, relationship issues and coping with life transitions. He is currently offering therapy for adults. He was very happy to join CPR in the spring of 2022. Tim is a volunteer Instructor for the Lee’s Friends (Helping People with Cancer) Training Course for Volunteers.
Kathleen Cosco, LPC believes we all need to heal, grow, and become the best version of ourselves, but she also recognizes the difficult and sometimes painful struggles that are involved with making change. Her role as your therapist is to help find the strategies and solutions that work best for you. She provides a safe and non-judgmental place that allows you to share and process experiences, find support, learn new ways to cope with your emotional and behavioral concerns and improve your ability to manage these concerns in a healthy way. Kathleen focuses on a holistic approach that incorporates physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Modalities include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, mindfulness, and somatic interventions. Her work experiences include psychiatric and medical settings, community- and school- based mental health, and private practice. She has experience and training in working with persons from diverse backgrounds, orientations, and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, chronic health issues, adult and adolescent ADHD and learning differences, neurodiversity, gender and sexual orientation, as well as life transitions and challenges such as employment stress, relationship/family issues, intimate partner relationships, grief and loss. She currently provides therapeutic outpatient services to individuals ages 14 and up, as well as to couples and families. She has in-person and virtual availability in the Norfolk and Richmond areas.
